Breeding Beef Show - Following Market Steers

 

RULES

(Refer also to General Rules)

 

1 . Joint ownership is considered to be as one (1) owner in accordance with registration papers.

2. When on exhibition in the ring, each animal must be under halter and under the control of the owner or the owner's representative.

3. Cattle showing clinical signs of contagious or infectious disease, including active ring worm, warts, lice, and mange, etc., will not be admitted!

4. All cattle must be accompanied by a "Certificate of Veterinary Inspection" , signed by an accredited veterinarian, that includes a statement that the animal(s) identified have been immunized against IBR, P13, and BVD. (In Pennsylvania, no tuberculosis test or brucellosis test is required).

5. Animals that have never been vaccinated against BVD or have not been vaccinated against BVD during the previous 12 months, must receive one dose of modified live virus vaccine given at least 15 days, and not more than 180 days before the show, or two doses of killed vaccine, two to four weeks apart, with the last dose given at least 15 days and not more than 180 days before the show.

6. Animals that have been vaccinated against BVD within the previous 12 months must receive at least a single injection of modified live virus or killed vaccine given not less than15 days and not more than 180 days before the show. Important! The date of the last live virus vaccination, or the dates of the last two killed virus vaccinations, must be recorded on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. Hyperimmune serum may not be used as a substitute for the above vaccination requirement An "Animal Owner or Caretakeršs Verification of Veterinarian- Client-Patient Relationship" form must be presented upon arrival at the fair.

7. Registration and health papers must be checked by department superintendents, assistant fair manager, or fair president.

8. Any animal of unthrifty nature, unsuitable condition, or showing signs of sickness may be removed from the fair as deemed necessary by the department superintendent.

9. A two dollar ($2.00) per animal entry fee must accompany the entry papers. If paying by check, make check payable to: Beaver Community Fair Association, Inc.

10. All animals must be checked in by department personnel by 7:00 PM on Sunday.

11. 4-H and Vocational Division is open to Snyder County 4-H and FFA members only.

12. Youth exhibitors may exhibit one commercial female provided exhibitor is not exhibiting any purebred registered breeding animal.

13. Families, chapters or clubs must exhibit at least two animals to qualify for Good Housekeeping

14. Exhibitors may exhibit one animal per class.

15. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis due to limited space. Exhibitors are asked to use sound judgment as to the number of entries because of limited space. Space will be allocated on a square footage per animal basis with Snyder County Youth Livestock Sale entries receiving first priority, youth breeding classes receiving second priority, open breeding receiving third priority and out of county open breeding receiving fourth priority.

16. Market Steers must weigh 800-1400 lbs

17. Each exhibitor showing a market steer is to have the livestock sale committee's appointed people come to their home to have a pre check completed to determine if the animal handles well enough to be brought to the fair.

DAIRY-FEEDER STEER RULES

Dairy-Feeder Show will be held Wed. at 9:00 a.m.

 

1. Exhibitor is limited to one (1) Dairy-Feeder Steer.

2. Only 4-H & FFA Dairy Dairy-Feeder Steer are permitted to enter the fair for competition. (See Youth Livestock Sale Rules).

3. Calves must be born after Jan. 1st and before Mar. 31st of the fair year.

4. Dairy Feeder Steers must be 100% dairy breed bloodline.

5. Calves not castrated by time of tagging on April 26, 2008, will be castrated at the fairgrounds on April 26, 2008. They must be free of testicular tissue and healed to show at the fair.

6. Dairy Feeder Steer calves must be naturally polled or dehorned.

7 Dairy Feeder Steers must be weighed and tagged on Saturday, April 28, 2007 9:00am-11:00am at the Beaver Community Fairgrounds.

8. Notify Liz Hollenbach or Steve Herman of animals to be tagged.

9. Dairy Feeder Steers must weigh 300-600 lbs. by fair weigh-in.

10. Rule starting for 2008 Fair, a Dairy Beef must contain 100% dairy blood line from the major breeds, Holstein (both black & white and red & white), Jersey, Guernsey, Aryshire, Milking Shorthorn, Brown Swiss, and Line Back.

11. Animals must be clearly identified on an official "Certificate of Veterinary Inspection" prepared by an accredited Veterinarian within 30 days prior to the fair.
