GENERAL RULES

1. All market and milk goats must have required testing as stipulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

2. All goats attending the fair will be current goat projects of Snyder county 4-H / FFA club members only.

3. Absolutely no unaltered males!

 

HEALTH RULES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR MARKET/ DAIRY GOATS

1. An Animal Owner or Caretaker's Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship form must be presented upon arrival to the Fair.

2. No animals showing clinical signs of contagious or infectious disease including caseous lymphadenitis, sore mouth, active ring worm, foot rot, warts, lice, and mange will be admitted to any show or other fair event.

3. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN OFFICIAL HEALTH CERTIFICATE to be presented to the goat superintendent or committee member prior to unloading the animal. An accredited veterinarian shall sign the statement of health that he examined the animal within 30 days of issuance of the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and accompany the animal to fair.

4. Market goats must have a USDA scrapie identification tag.

5. Dairy goats/registered goats must be tattooed, all other goats will have a scrapie tag.

 

DAIRY GOATS

1. All dairy goats must be owned by the exhibitor, under the direct care of the exhibitor by February 28 of the current year.

2. There will be a mandatory 12 hour milk out prior to show.

3. Bring your own feed, bedding, watering equipment, and official health charts to the fair.

4. Animals not bred by the exhibitor shall be owned by the exhibitor by May 1.

5. All animals must be entered on the 4H & FFA Goat Entry blank in this booklet.

6. The fair reserves the right to combine or split classes listed below.

 

MARKET GOATS

1. Market goats must be born by January1st of the fair year.

2. Market goats must be owned by the club member by May 1st of this year.

3. A maximum of 2 goats may be exhibited per exhibiter.

4. Market Goat must weigh 40 - 110 lbs.

5. Market goats must be whether goat or a doe. All market goats must be dehorned or dies-budded or up to a one (1) inch scur.

6. Market goats must be properly castrated that no testicular tissue is present at fair.

7. Bring your own feed, bedding, watering equipment, and official health charts to the fair.

8. All market goats making the proper weight will be sold at the Youth Livestock Sale.

9. All exhibitors are expected to present their goat for show and sale.

10. Final classes will be set at the fair and may combine or split classes listed below.

11. Market goats must be weighed and tagged on Saturday, June 21, 2008 9:00am-11:00am at the Beaver Community Fairgrounds.
