CLASS 3 - Horse Shoe Pitching Contest

Sign ups will be held one(1) hour prior to event at pits.
Entry Fee - $3.00/per person
If more than 15 persons throwing in competition, a double elimination will be played.
The $3 entry fee will be divided between the winners in addition to the premium already being paid.

CLASS 3 - Fun & Safety Poster Contest
RULES:
The Bureau of Ride & Measurement Standards under the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is conducting a statewide poster contest on “Fun and Safety on the Fairgrounds” to increase fair safety awareness. The poster exhibits will further promote the Fun-Safety concept as visitors view the individual entries.
CRITERIA FOR THE CONTEST:
- Only one poster may be submitted per student, per age group. There will be three state competitions: ages 8-11, 12-14, 15-18. Students must be in one of these age groups as of June 1, 2009 to qualify.
- The poster size must be 14 1/2 inches X 22 inches, equivalent to one-half of a standard poster board. Other sizes will not be accepted for judging at the state level.
- This year’s theme is “Fun and Safety on the Fairgrounds.” Students should use this theme on their poster and illustrate the interdependence between riders and rides. The poster must contain items pertaining to amusement rides and may include any of the additional items listed below:
- Tram-fairgound tp and from parking lot transportation
- Livestock-bite-kick-runaway-hand-feeding hazards
- Horse drawn wagons and equipment dangers
- Trators and tractor deawn equipment dangers
- Caged poultry and animal hazards
- Trip hazards
- Each student should place the following information on the back of the poster in the bottom left corner:
- Students Name
- Age of Student
- Address
- Phone Number
- The winner of each age group will need to provide a social security number to the fair secretary in order to continue to the state level competition. Only one poster per age group per fair may be forwarded to the state competition.
- Posters will be evaluated on use of: the theme, visual appearance and creativity in relation to the exhibitor1s age.
- Checks for $100, $ 75, and $50 will be presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to the top three individuals during the 2011 PA FARM SHOW.Winners will be notified in advance and invited to attend an awards presentation. Winners will be required to provide their socal security numbers for award disbursments.
- All posters must be handed in to the fair office by Monday, September 20th by 7:00 pm.

(Register one hour prior to starting time)
RULES
- Contest is open to any Pennsylvania resident.
- Contestant will select the bale to be thrown from the bales provided.
- Each contestant will be allowed one (1) throw.
- Crossing the foul line with one’s body will result in disqualification.
- The bale must remain inside the twenty (20) foot wide throwing area at all times.
- The distance will be measured from the nearest point where the bale hits the ground.
- Positions for competing will be determined by lottery.
- Contest will take place in outside arena
- Bale size for youth division will be one-half regular size.

CLASS 3 - TUG OF WAR CONTEST

RULES
- A team roster shall be submitted to a contest official prior to the start of the contest at the speaker’s platform. The roster shall include the team’s name, team captain’s name and complete mailing address, and the names and addresses of the remaining team members.
- Team captains should register their team one (1) hour prior to starting time.
- Teams shall be limited to 2000 pounds each as determined on the Fair Association scales.
- Pulling position shall be determined by lottery.
- The pull will start from a tight rope at the judge’s signal.
- Contest will be conducted as a double elimination tournament.
- To be declared a winning pull, the flag (at midpoint from the ends of the rope), must cross the line which is ten (10) feet on either side of the flag or after one (1) minute the team who has moved the flag to their own side of the line will be declared the winner.
- No spikes are permitted on contestants’ shoes.
- The pulling rope will be provided by the Fair Association.
- Contestants may compete on one team only.
- Co-Ed teams should be made up with half of each.
- Contest will take place on the tractor pulling track.
- Judges decisions will be final.
